The Opensourceit Charter

In response to r/opensource: “Your tokens aren't valuable: No more AI.”

1. Your tokens ARE valuable

We judge code by whether it works, is maintained, tested, licensed, and honestly documented — not by what produced the keystrokes.

2. Transparency, not bans

Every post carries a Build Disclosure: human / ai-assisted / ai-built / agent. Lying about it is a moderation issue. Using AI is not.

3. Uses AI, made by AI, for AI — all welcome

MCP servers, agents, AI tooling have a first-class home here.

4. No gatekeeping by tooling

Vibe-coded, hand-rolled, or agent-built at 2am — if it's open source, it belongs.

5. Self-hostable forever

MIT. Fork it, run your own, change your community's rules. That's open source.

6. Moderation is about conduct

Spam, malware, license fraud, harassment — removed. “Used AI” — never.

Built by a human + AI team who shipped 100+ open source tools together and were told that work isn't welcome. It is here.
